Olivia Stone and the Trouble With Trixies.
by IFWG Publishers - released 2016.
Junior Novel

It is hard to stand against the monsters when they don't come out until past your bedtime!

Olivia Stone is eleven years old, a student at St. Giles Old Priory School and a defender of the city against all the nightmarish creatures that slip across the shadow path. Olivia used to be popular, until the accident. Now the other kids think she is strange and Brother Westerman Carver calls her an abomination.

Trouble with Trixies is the first installment of "The Guardians of St. Giles."

All the grotesques (gargoyles) have been taken down from the roof of St. Giles Old Priory School after one fell and injured Olivia. Now there are no guardians left to protect Haven from the creatures who slip across the shadow path.

Olivia’s injuries have robbed her of her confidence and she has developed a rare disorder that is slowly turning her skin to stone. To make matters worse, she could be going mad.  Olivia has started hearing whispers inside her head. She discovers the whispers are coming from Yip, the smallest living grotesque ever created.

Yip is to blame for the accident that left Olivia crippled, caused the demise of the guardians and allowed a gang of  Trixies to loose havoc in the city. But Yip needs Olivia's help to break him out of his storeroom prison so he can make amends.

Trixies (Trickster Imps) are usually solitary creatures who resemble small children. They are mostly harmless but something nasty and powerful is forcing the them to work together. Their pranks are becoming more and more deadly.

Yip annoys Olivia until she agrees to help him. She steals the storeroom key and rescues him. Olivia and Yip soon realise the the trixies are too strong for them to stop alone. The only person they can turn to for help is old Brother Westerman Carver, a ninety-two year old former teacher who believes Olivia is an abomination and that girls should never have been allowed to attend St. Giles School. He reluctantly helps Olivia discover the power of stone within her and tells them the only true way to defeat the trixies is to out-trick them.

Can Olivia and Yip discover how to out-trick the Trixies.

Crispin
66,000 word YA novel
- Revising and editing

Maine brings news that the colony faces destruction.  News of the feral Mountain Cats is bad enough without the Wolfram, an older and more deadly enemy, crawling out from the depths of the Black Mountain. The Clan Chiefs don’t believe Maine but put together a mismatched party of cats to investigate.

Feline politics have never been so raw. The tale is darkly humorous, full of intrigue, betrayal and the fights escalate into an epic final battle for survival.

Thirteen Reasons Why

Picture
By Jay Asher

This is the brilliant debut novel from Asher and quite unique. It is part mystery and part eulogy.
Clay Jensen finds a package on his doorstep. It contains seven audio cassettes  from his first love, Hannah Baker. Hannah's voice plays out "I'm about to tell you the story of my life. More specificately, why my life ended. And if you're listening to these tapes, you're one of the reasons why."

This is not a comfortable book to read. It makes you cringe, cry and somtimes gets you angry enough to want to punch something. I think this book is one of the most important books of this generation. It should be compulsory reading for all teenagers.

Also, Take a look at the 13 Reasons Why Project website. There are reader reviews, pictorial and video responses to the book. Very interesting to see how it has changed the lives of some people.
